About Me
Hello! I'm Jack Hagen, a passionate student determined to address IT related issues on campus. I'm running for UWEC Student Senate as an on-campus senator in the spring of 2025 in order to see those issues addressed. I'm a sophomore double major in computer science and political science with a certificate in Chinese. I'm in the UWEC Honors Program, I love to read, I play trumpet/guitar/ukulele, and I study martial arts (Aikido/Shorin Ryu Karate/Tai Chi/Escrima).

My Positions
- Data Privacy: I believe that student data is for sale and most students don't realize how damaging their publicly available data can be.
- LTS Resources: I believe that the resources offered by LTS (Learning and Technology Services) aren't understood by the student body, and a better understanding would lead to a better school experience for students.
- Blugolds in Government: I believe that UWEC students should have a larger say in the direction that campus takes.
- Student Involvement: I believe that students are becoming less engaged with campus and their community, that they should become more involved, and that student participation makes a school into a college campus.
My Experience
- Member of Senate's Information Technology Commission: Where issues related to IT on campus are addressed. We oversee the annual LTS budget, funds for special projects regarding IT on campus, and generic student complaints with campus IT requiring policy changes.
- President of Cybersecurity club, Model UN, and Student Association for Computing Machinery: I built the Model UN and Cybersecurity clubs from my own two hands because I see them as opportunities not fulfilled on campus. Both are now successful and will last long after I'm gone.
- Everything Computer Science: I lead teams to cybersecurity and data analytics competitions, I helped run a Python programming language and AI workshop, I work in a Computer Science position, I do multiple research projects in CS (including on the national scale), and I love messing around with computers in my spare time.
- Policy and Bureaucracy As a political science major, I love the theory of government and have studied policy making. I also have fought with bureaucracy on many occasions in order to get resources and opportunities for my clubs.
What's with all the weird URLs to get to this website?
I was tired when I came up with my campaign strategy and I love weird domain names. Here's a list of all the ones I have (jack-really-wants-to-be-a-uwec-senator-so-please-vote-for-him.win doesn't currently work on school wifi, automated security software blocked it because it was deemed "suspicious" for some reason).
